The United States has neither morale nor right to judge Cuba

The Association of Cubans in Toronto “Juan Gualberto Gómez” condemns the inclusion of Cuba, once more, in the list of sponsors of terrorism. We join the Cuban people in demanding that the U.S. government remove our country from such list, which really, as everybody knows, should be headed by them.

It is a well known fact that, despite the difficulties it faces, and that are caused mainly due to the economic and financial blockade that the U.S. imposes on the island since 1961, Cuba respectfully collaborates with many other so-called Third World countries in the fields of health and education. Cuba delivers smiles and love around the world while the U.S. sends soldiers, wars and pain.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cuba holds the U.S. government responsible of political manipulation for using such a delicate issue as the antiterrorist fight as a tactic to undermine the respect and support that the Caribbean island enjoys in the world and to justify their cruel, inhuman and illegal blockade, that has been in effect for more than 50 years.

The declaration also reads: “Cuba demands that the U.S. government punish the real terrorists, who reside on the U.S. territory today, release the Five Heroes and end the policy of blockade and hostility against our country”.

The official declaration notes that the United States has historically promoted terrorism, extrajudicial executions, kidnappings, assassinations, secret prisons and occupation wars in Iraq and Afghanistan among many other condemnable acts.

The United States “has neither morale nor right to judge Cuba, which has an impeccable record in the fight against terrorism and has been, in addition, a systematic victim of that scourge” says the declaration and stresses that “at the same time, as irrefutable evidence of its double standard, the U.S. government unjustly holds our five antiterrorist fighters, the Cuban Five in prison”.

This is the thirtieth time that the U.S. includes Cuba in the spurious list of sponsors of international terrorism.
